Plugging in for safety

Delegates to LUL's Health and Safety Conference each received a new invention – the PlugLock – as a demonstration of security control and enhanced safety.

Lock-up: the toughened plastic PlugLock device which fits on to any UK three-pin plug to prevent usage

Made from toughened plastic, it slips onto the earth pin of any standard UK three-pin plug. Once the locking screw is tightened, the appliance to which the PlugLock is attached is rendered inoperable. A padlock can also be looped into the device for additional security.

The product is undergoing further development to add “twist and turn" and combination lock mechanisms, as well as adaptation for use in other countries and industry groups with bespoke plug designs.
